Each day hundreds of mothers and babies are seen at one of over 140 clinics run by UNRWA. Through the Agency’s comprehensive and safe motherhood programme, antenatal care services follow over 80% of expected pregnancies among the Palestine refugee population, enabling doctors to recognize and deal with potential complications and risk factors at an early stage of pregnancy.
For almost 70 years, UNRWA has supported the health of Palestine refugee children during all phases of their early life including providing life-saving immunizations and follow-up health checks. In Gaza alone, UNRWA serves more than 854,000 children.
“From the first weeks of my pregnancy, I was worried.” Yasmeen, a Palestine refugee from Gaza, relied on UNRWA health services throughout her high-risk pregnancy. With the support she received from doctors at the UNRWA clinic, she delivered a healthy baby girl. “Without UNRWA services, I would not be able to afford care for me and my daughter Mais.”
